Junz, Parker, Colorado

I think it's safe to say that one of the things Samm and I bonded over when we were falling for each other, was our shared love of sushi! I mean, let's face it, who doesn't love a man who loves sushi? So, when we moved to Colorado, we made it a quest to find our local Sushi go-to place that was near our home. Junz stole our hearts! Here are all the reasons why.

Established in 2003 and nestled on a corner of a shopping center (some of the best ones always are), you will find this ample & stylish restaurant! Jun Makino is the owner and chef of Junz. Born in Tokyo, Japan to two restaurant owners, Makino learned the art of Japanese cuisine from an early age. He was professionally trained by French chef Jean-Louis Palladin, Makino combines his Japanese heritage with his passion for French food. And what do you get? The delight that is Junz.

The stats:

Atmosphere: Let me just start by saying this place is FUN. It's an ample restaurant with tables and TWO bars. One sushi bar (right in the middle of the place), and a "bar" off to the side, where patrons can do cocktails and dine as well. The decor is gold and black, and it has a very fun and retro 1980's feel to it. Every time I have gone, they are playing the right music (from 1980's classics to modern indie rock). This place is just fun.

When to go: Open for Lunch, Dinner & Happy Hour

Lunch: Monday - Sunday 11:30am - 2:30pm

Happy Hour: Sunday - Thursday 4:30pm - 5:30pm (go sit at the bar off to the side!

Dinner: Sunday - Thursday 4:30pm - 9:00pm, Friday - Saturday 5:00pm - 9:30pm

What to wear: Casual! Shorts, jeans, t-shirts. This is the kind of place you look at your special someone on a Tuesday night and say "Hey, let's go grab sushi!"

What to eat: The selection is huge. They even have some pasta and risotto dishes for kids (or adults!) But for us, Sashimi, Sushi, Handrolls, Deluxe Rolls, and Edamame is our go-to. Everything is super fresh.

What to drink: They have a full bar! I always love my Hot Sake :-)

Overall experience: Superb. Just a fun place with delicious food and plenty of seating options (and great music!) And the service is phenomenal! You will be happy all around! 10 stars for Junz!

Total Bill post tip and tax: $99.84 with tax and tip (includes appetizer, rolls, sashimi, tempura, Large Sake, and Japanese beer.
